What Is a Labia Minora Labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty is an outpatient surgical procedure that reshapes the labia minora, or inner lips of the female genitalia. These folds of tissue surround the vaginal opening, and their size, shape, and symmetry vary naturally. In some cases, the procedure may also address the labia majora, which as aging occurs results in loss of volume and a sagging appearance depending on the patient’s anatomy and goals.²
Using precise surgical techniques, Dr. Susan Kaweski reduces and contours excess tissue to improve symmetry and proportion while preserving the natural appearance and function of the surrounding structures. Each procedure is customized to the patient’s unique anatomy rather than following a standardized approach.² Depending on your anatomy, this may involve a trim technique, which removes excess tissue along the outer edge of the labia minora, or a wedge technique, which removes a wedge-shaped section of tissue while preserving the natural edge.³ If the labia majora is involved with loss of volume, fat grafting can restore the natural appearance. Labiaplasty may be performed with local anesthesia and IV sedation or under general anesthesia, depending on your procedure.³
