What Is Preservation Breast Augmentation?
Preservation breast augmentation is a breast-enhancement technique that focuses on preserving tissue as much as possible while inserting breast implants. This means working to preserve the blood supply and the natural integrity of chest muscles, ligaments, breast tissue, and other anatomical structures.
During traditional breast augmentation, surgeons sometimes use techniques that involve disrupting the integrity of these tissues. This can include cutting through or detaching chest muscles to perform sub-muscular breast implant placement.
Preservation breast augmentation often avoids sub-muscular implant placement. Instead, it typically involves subfascial breast implant placement, meaning placement over the pectoralis major muscle but beneath a thin muscle fascia layer.
