Chin Surgery


Indications:
  • Retruding chin
  • Prominent chin
  • Less angled lower jaw
Procedure Description:
  • The procedure is done on an outpatient basis under sedation and local or general anesthesia.
  • Chin and lower jaw implants are placed through incisions in the mouth.
  • Chin bone may be cut to either advance it forward or place it backward.
Intended Result:
  • Enhancement of the chin and lower jaw with an improved self image.
  • Retrusion of prominent jaw to conform to facial features.
Recuperation and healing:
  • Compression garments are worn for lower jaw and chin implants for at least one week full time and at night for 3 weeks.
  • Swelling and bruising will subside in 2- 3 weeks.
  • Light activities can be resumed as tolerated. Aerobic activities can be started in about 4 weeks.
