| Breast Augmentation
Indications:
- Smaller than desired breasts
- One breast that is noticeably smaller than the other
Description of Procedure:
- The procedure is done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia.
- A small incision is made under the breast or around the edge of the areola, and a saline or silicone implant is inserted under the breast tissue or under the breast tissue and the underlying muscle.
Intended Result:
- Larger more shapely breasts. A more positive self image.
Recuperation and Healing:
- The patient goes home in a sports bra and a band across the top of the breasts.
- The bra and band help hold the breasts in the correct position.
- Initial discomfort is controlled with oral medication.
- Light activities can be resumed as tolerated. Aerobic activities can be started in about 4 weeks.
Additional Procedures to Enhance the Results:
Mastopexy (Breast Lift) – if the breasts are saggy in addition to being too small
